Welcome, if you are considering referring a client for hypnosis sessions, or your client has discussed my services with you, this is how I work with doctors and therapists:
- I have training in complementary hypnosis services that support the care of licensed medical providers. I will take direction on session content to support the medical care you provide.
- I require any client dealing with an addiction to consult with their doctor and/or therapist. This includes clients looking for support for quitting drinking or smoking. I discuss with clients the benefits and services that they may need from a doctor or therapist before embarking on serious lifestyle changes, including changes to diet and exercise programs.
- I do not sell or endorse any physical products. My website and intake documents state that hypnosis is not intended do diagnose illness or replace medical care. I operate according to the ethics guidelines of the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH).
- Memory and recall: I do not recommend or use hypnosis for accurate memory retrieval. I advise clients that memory is often imperfect and malleable.
- Terminology and hypnosis convention: As legal and medical ambiguity exists for the term "hypnotherapist", I refer to myself as a consulting hypnotist, or simply a hypnotist. I do not use terminology often used in the hypnosis community that may be confusing for clients. I also avoid terms that have different meanings in different medical and therapeutic contexts. For example, I avoid the terms “subconscious” and "unconscious“. While hypnotists sometimes use "somnambulism” to describe the hypnotic state, I avoid it, as it means sleepwalking in a medical context. I do not use the phrase “road hypnosis” as this is a medically disproven term. I do refer to neuroscience research and other clinical studies to explain hypnosis realistically and accurately to clients.
- Client privacy: My scheduling and payment system meets HIPAA requirements, and I use an end to end encrypted system for file sharing and intake paperwork.
Thank you for visiting. Please use the scheduler below if you would like to learn more.
